Brushes, Beans & Brews: Landscape Fantasy My, what a fun class we had today. Five artists added fantasy based elements to their landscapes, one being a Universe breathing Mexican iguana. Not all finished, yet I am so impressed with what they did. Some have literal fantasy elements and some added subtle ones. See if you can find them. Thank you all for coming and thank you, Mocha Moose, for hosting this weekly event.
This is pretty fascinating.
This is what we were discussing yesterday with the Lake County Board, it’s a crisis for us North Shore restaurants and especially our small family businesses.
Brushes, Beans & Brews: Black Wash on White What a fun class we had today at the Mocha Moose. Each artist used their own reference and, armed with only black paint and water, they painted on white canvas. I am so very impressed with what each accomplished using this water color technique void of color. Thank you for coming and thank you, Mocha Moose, for hosting this weekly event.
Breakfast on the piano, vanilla latte and blueberry scone-the perfect combination.
Brushes, Beans & Brews: White Wash on Black We had a small and wonderful class today. Using only white paint, water and black canvas, each student used varying degrees of white wash techniques to create their art. Ruth and Deade painted almost mirror images without even realizing it, sitting in opposite ends of the table. I am so impressed with what each of them accomplished. Thank you for coming and thank you, Mocha Moose, for hosting this weekly class.
Our Mayan Mocha is just what you need to warm up on a cold Saturday. -Cinnamon, Dark Chocolate, Candied Orange and Cayenne Pepper with homemade whip cream.
Brushes, Beans & Brews: Abstracting Impressions We had an amazing class today exploring abstract painting. Many students created a few paintings as abstract expression can occur quickly. I know how much this stretched them out of their comfort zone, and I’m proud of their bravery to explore this topic. Thank you so much for coming and thank you, Mocha Moose, for hosting this weekly event.
Brushes, Beans & Brews: The Northern Lights All I can say is wow to the amazing art the eight students created today. Starting with black canvas, they each painted their own celebration of the Northern Lights. I apologize for how horrible these photos are as each piece is much more vibrant than I was able to capture here. Thank you all for coming and thank you, Mocha Moose, for allowing us use your beautiful space for class.
Thanks to Micheal Monroe and Friends for a Fantastic Evening!
Brushes, Beans & Brews: The Milky Way Oh my, what an amazing class we had. Fourteen amazingly imaginative artists created their own creative interpretations of the Milky Way using a variety of techniques including ragging, sponging, finger painting, stippling and palette knifing. Each one is as unique as it is amazing. What fun and well done, everyone. Thank you so much for coming and thank you, Mocha Moose, for hosting this weekly event.
We are closed today, tomorrow-Friday we will have our creamy tomato basil soup and pepperjack grilled cheese or baked french fries. Looking forward to seeing everyone again after the week of deep freeze.
Welp, in the history of owning this shop, never have I had to close 3 days in a row. But we will be closed Thursday (again) as the weather report is brutally cold and my co-workers car hasn’t been able to start. Yes it’s just the 2 of us-we can make it if we try- sing with me....you know Austin Powers. As I type this I think- Really Mother Nature? it’s nice to have time off with my child who’s school has been cancelled 3 days now but I am finding being cooped up in the house with a 5 year old has been harder than 23 years of customer service! It’s lead to a painting disaster, not wall paint...but smearing of acrylic paint not on canvas but on many walls that apparently needed color, a not so happy dog that never wants to go outside and chooses to do her business anywhere but the yard, a 120 year old house with old windows that are covered in frost and I swear were going to break from the sheer wind force alone and a very empty bottle of brandy, geeze need I go on? Friday and warmer weather can’t come soon enough! Thanks for your patience and wish me luck tomorrow as we see what fun adventures await another day of a 5 year old’s sheer boredom from his mother...
Due to the extreme cold, we will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday, see you on Thursday! We will have our delicious Creamy Tomato Basil Soup and Grilled Cheese Special to warm you up plus some fresh baked scones and other goodies. Stay warm out there and thanks for all your support!
Brushes, Beans & Brews: Really Surreally Wow what a fun class we had. Each artist was challenged with painting a floating leaf and making it look surreal in some way. Is it floating on water or in the sky, or is it a landscape and not a leaf? Or, all of the above? I am very proud of what they created as this was a challenging class. Thank you all for coming and thank you, Mocha Moose, for hosting this weekly event.
